| The 3 Parts of NLP I read about 3 parts of the NLP which also correlate to 3 of the Jungian personality trait categories.
1. Internal State (pleasure vs pain) - thinking/feeling
2. Internal Reps (strategies) - sensing/intuition
3. External Behavior (action) - introverted/extroverted
Q1) What do you think about this, and where would beliefs/maps fit into this model? I am guessing it's inbetween 1 and 2.
Q2) Could this explian why I have been socially shy and had trouble getting over it? I'm a strong feeling type and introverted. And I've done visualization and trance exercises (from audios by Bander and others) with little success and read alot about social pyschology. I believe taking these actions didn't change me much because even though they've helped me use proper strategies and developed good maps about social interactions, I still had fear of social interactions; always looking for the next piece of information that would help me become a good social person but not meeting people. Then I thought about deeper states and I believe there was a deeper link of pain to social interactions within me. So I decided to take more external action, not thinking so much about strategies but rather making small goals and feeling good about them. When I see people on the other side of the room, I would walk towards them. That was one goal, and once I accomplished that, it felt really good. Then I would start saying hi, which was another accomplishment that felt good. Now I really feel that I was neglecting my state and only focuing on fancy strategies and information. |
